With an abundance of sugary holiday foods flooding the market, these meals may not be the best for your overall health. Pies, cookies, cakes and seasonal desserts are a huge part of the holiday experience. But, while these foods may taste good, they can be harmful for your skin.

What are the best holiday foods to eat this season for your skin?

Kale

This green veggie can be consumed in a variety of ways and is at the top of the list when it comes to beauty foods. Kale is full of amazing nutrients. This leafy green contains a large dose of vitamin A which is essential for glowing skin. This vitamin has also been known to assist in preventing heart diseases, an effective cleanser for the skin and also contains detoxifying properties. Toss some kale into your daily salad-- your skin will see the difference!

Pumpkin

This versatile orange squash holds an immense number of uses in cooking and baking! It’s loaded with beta carotene which is a powerful antioxidant. When it gets converted into Vitamin A, it helps prevent wrinkles and helps to moisturize the skin. If you are experiencing dryness due to the cold weather, this is the food for you! Also loaded with vitamin C, pumpkin protects collagen and helps boost our immune systems.

Sweet Potatoes

In only one sweet potato, you can find over 200% of the recommended daily dose of Vitamin A! As previously stated, the benefits of Vitamin A are essential for good skin. This vitamin promotes new skin cell growth and works to increase the rate at which this process happens. In every serving of sweet potato, you’ll get 3 grams of fiber. Fiber keeps your digestive track healthy and functioning. A healthy digestive system keeps your breakouts at a minimum.

Carrots

Everyone knows that carrots are great for your eyes. But, this orange veggie is also amazing for smooth, vibrant skin! Your skin can take a toll from environmental factors-- sun radiation and toxins in combination with stress can lead to a weakened defense system against damaging free radicals that can attack and ruin our skin. Carotenoids, which are found in carrots, are a barrier that prevents wrinkles and bars everyday pollutants.

Stock up on these veggies to reap the benefits and attain glowing skin...just in time for Christmas!
